Karim Godamunne MD, MBA

The Eagle Remote Presence University is chaired by Karim Godamunne, MD, MBA. Dr. Godamunne is a Hospitalist practicing with Eagle Hospital Physicians, Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program and Medical Director of a Telemedicine powered Stroke Program at South Fulton Medical Center, East Point, GA. Dr. Godamunne has been recognized as a pioneer of Hospitalist Telemedicine. His groundbreaking work on Hospitalist Telemedicine was showcased in the May, 2009 issue of The Hospitalist, "Night Shift Solutions Robots, camera and computers nudge their way into off-site Hospital Medicine Coverage". At South Fulton Medical Center he championed the use of Remote Presence, to develop a Joint Commission Certifiable Stroke Program. Dr. Godamunne is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Morehouse College where he developed and oversees a joint Hospitalist/Family Medicine inpatient teaching program. He has received awards for Physician Leadership in Telemedicine and Practice Recognition for Outstanding Quality Performance from Eagle Hospital Physicians. In 2009, he received the William H. Cleveland Faculty of the Year Award, from the Morehouse School of Medicine-Family Medicine. For the 2010 Society of Hospital Medicine meeting in Washington, D.C., Dr. Godamunne will serve as the hosting faculty for a state of the art workshop on leveraging Remote Presence to meet inpatient needs.

Curriculum

RPU curriculum is designed with the patient and physician in mind. Every Eagle physician completes the full curriculum prior to seeing patients via the remote presence technology and passes the operator's skill inventory to ensure the physician, patient and on-site medical staff are comfortable with each encounter. The curriculum includes components for nursing staff, referring physician and administrator in-service.

Course Sessions

Course Sessions are currently offered at the convenience of the physician and faculty and are designed to be interactive and flexible around your busy schedule. Physician Operator courses are best facilitated in a one on one format however, small group exceptions can be made. In-service sessions are offered in a traditional group training session.
