  • Management solutions for employed hospitalist practices.
  • Remote physician services using telemedicine for specialist support and night coverage.
  • Quick start services through Eagle’s temporary staffing firm, Hospitalist Connections.
Q: Why should our organization consider an outsourced hospitalist program?
A: Utilizing a proven partner in delivering inpatient medicine solutions frees your organization to focus on the many challenges of today’s hospital environment. With a singular focus on inpatient care, you can count on Eagle to continue to innovate and deliver best practices.
Q: How soon can a hospitalist program get started?
A: Eagle’s recruiting, credentialing and operations teams are specialists in delivering new programs to meet each hospital’s needs, moving fast to expedite starts in urgent situations. We offer quick start services utilizing Locum Tenens through our temporary staffing agency, Hospitalist Connections, to serve as a bridge to the permanent Eagle hospitalist team.
Q: How will Eagle be successful recruiting good physicians to our community?
A: We employ a selection process that matches candidates to best-fit opportunities, taking into consideration the culture of both the hospital and the community it serves. Eagle’s medical directors pre-qualify candidates personally before presenting a candidate to a hospital client. An Eagle recruiter will then facilitate the interview and hiring process with key hospital leadership and medical staff to ensure the entire team feels the physician will make a good fit.
Q: Do Eagle hospitalists do more than just ER coverage, for example co-management with specialists?
A: Eagle Hospital Physicians are there to be a partner in elevating inpatient care. They are specialists in coordinating and expediting the right care at the right time in the right place. Our physicians are flexible and innovative in serving patients and medical staff – admitting, attending, and discharging patients; covering ER calls; co-managing and consulting with specialists; working in rehab, psychiatry and skilled nursing units; forming strong teams with nursing, case managers and discharge planners, and other hospital staff. Eagle utilizes flexible staffing models tailored to meet each hospital’s articulated needs and to grow and change as needed. For that reason Eagle has, in the past, added specialists for some clients, including critical care, nephrology, neurology, and psychiatry.
Q: Is there a specific staffing model Eagle recommends?
A: Eagle collaborates with its hospital partners to customize the right mix of program characteristics to fit their unique needs. Our flexible staffing models are based on matching patient volume with sustainable schedules to attract and retain hospitalists and provide efficient quality care. The typical schedule is week on/week off, and average encounters per daytime physician are 15-18. Eagle may recommend blended-skill teams, adding nurse practitioners and physician assistants to physician core staffing when the situation calls for it.
Q: What results or value should our hospital expect from an Eagle hospitalist solution?
A: Eagle uses insight and innovation to deliver on the hospitalist value equation: collaborative practice with hospital staff, clinical consistency with order set use, focus on quality metrics, satisfied patients and medical staff, efficient care with eLOS measurement and improvement, and leadership for hospital initiatives. We leverage frequent reports to evaluate progress with hospital leadership and adjust the program accordingly. This stringent management process helps ensure program success. Once the initial benchmarks are met, Eagle will collaborate with the hospital to create added value through continuous quality-improvement methods.
